Dr. Amr Helal
Dr. Amr Helal is a Professor of Pharmacognosy at Cairo University and a Ph.D. holder in Pharmaceutical Sciences specialising in natural product chemistry from the University of Toyama, Japan. His life's work has been bridging the gap between science and the everyday lives of Egyptian children.
Driven by a striking statistic — that over 20% of Egyptian children suffer from stunting and anemia — Dr. Helal pioneered the concept of embedding precisely calibrated vitamins and minerals into snacks children actually want to eat. Working with the National Institute of Nutrition and funded by Misr El Khair, he turned a bold hypothesis into a product category.
His leadership at the Chamber of Industry brings invaluable real-world insight to Healthtech's R&D. From rice bran utilisation projects attracting European funding, to internationally award-winning functional food innovations, Dr. Helal's work is a testament to what Egyptian science can achieve for Egyptian children.
